DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The basic functions of the Apprentice Plumber are to: 

 Assist the Plumber on the job site, loading the truck with tools and/or materials, ​​​​​​assist with inventory of truck supplies and ​​​​​​job site material inventory.

​​​​​​​   Help care for company property (i.e. trucks, tools, equipment).

​​​​​​​   Keep work area neat and clean.​​​​​​​

   Willingness to learn and take direction/instructions from management

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

​​​​​​​The Apprentice reports directly to the Foreman or Superintendent for job related direction.  

REQUIREMENTS:

​​​​​​​Education:

  Required: Some high school

  Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.

​​​​​​​Experience:

​​​​​​​  Required: None

  ​​​​​​Preferred: High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 months plumbing or general                                   construction experience.

​​​Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Licenses:

​​​​​​​   Required:        Good communication skills, willingness to learn, ability to lift 50 pounds,                                            OSHA 10 Certification (or within 90 days from date of hire)

   Preferred:        Same as above but with working knowledge of plumbing

​​​​​​​Physical:

  1. Body position: This position requires the ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time.  Requires the ability to stoop, squat, sit, stand and climb stairs and ladders.
  1. Body movements: Ability to negotiate around crowded construction sites  in varying weather conditions and varying types of terrain.  Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to use both hands for repetitive actions requiring simple to firm grasp and/or fine manipulations.
  1. Body Senses: Must have the ability to use all senses in order to perform daily tasks and interact with others as required.
  1. Mental: This position requires good interpersonal skills and accuracy in performing duties. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English in order to perform duties. Must have the ability to accurately measure, be alert and cautious and work as part of a team.

  3. Working Conditions: The primary workstation will be on the job site, which is normally not an environmentally controlled atmosphere. You will work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions which will vary based on the time of the year. Must be expected to work in heat, cold, rain and snowy conditions and in dimly lit indoor conditions.  Noise levels may warrant use of hearing protection.  May be exposed to toxic gases and/or solvents.  May require working with or being up close to machinery. Eight (8) or more hour workdays per five (5) to six (6) day workweek with the possibility of nights and/or weekend work required.
